Crowley's Ridge- 3
Williams Baptist- 0
Sets went as follows: 25-19 CRC, 25-17 CRC, and 25-15 CRC.
Walnut Ridge, Ark.- The Lady Pioneers traveled the short distance down Highway 412 to take on the Eagles of Williams Baptist Univesity tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the two teams' second meeting this season. Crowley's Ridge defeated WBU in their fist clash on August, 26th although it would take a 5-set thriller to leave CRC standing on top. Tonight's meeting took a different route by ending after just three sets of action. When the last serve was dished and the last point claimed, CRC found themselves victors once more over the Eagles. CRC kicked off the night by trailing in the opening set 10-2 before finding an answer for the Eagle offense. CRC rallied and slowly did away with the Eagle lead as they tied the opening set 15-15 with Jillian Glasgow and Hannah Halveron going back-to-back with kills. This change of pace was what the Pioneers needed to energize their offense as they finished the set with a big 10-3 run. In set two, the Pioneers decided to not play from behind by bursting out with an 8-1 run to start the action, forcing a WBU time-out. CRC continued their game plan by increasing their lead even more as Williams burned their second and final set time-out, finding themselves now trailing CRC 20-11. When play resumed, the Pioneers traded point for point with the Eagles until Paige Glenn and Glasgow ended the set with two Pioneer kills. The Eagles gave their most valiant effort in the final set as they stayed all knotted up with CRC until the 10-point mark where the Pioneers turned the curve and kicked in the afterburners racing for the finish line. What seemed to truly doom the Eagles would be a big block by Emi Elms and Alexis Weirich at the 17-12 point mark, giving CRC a 5-point lead. The Eagles would stop play once last time in search of an answer but would be unsuccessful as the Lady Pioneers defeated WBU with double digits in set three 25-15 increasing their win streak to 3.
Jillian Glasgow got back in her double-double routine by dishing out a team-high 19 assists and shoveling 11 digs. Hannah Halverson led the team in digs with 19 with Kinley Matlock right behind finishing with 17. Jadyn Hesse served up 4 service aces while Emi Elms shut down 4 Eagles with her 4 blocks (3 solo). Finally, Paige Glenn led the Pioneers in kills going 8-12 for a .667 hitting percentage on the night. Up next, CRC travels to Point Lookout, MO this weekend for a tri-match at College of the Ozarks. #GOPIONEERS
