Patriots Outlast Pioneers- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 9/28/23
Springfield, MO- Pioneer Volleyball spun the tires this afternoon with a matchup against Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. This matchup against the Patriots was the first match of the busy 3 game weekend for the Lady Pioneers. With CRC's lost to Harris-Stowe at home back on Tuesday, October 26th the Pioneers were still looking for that lucky break to get back in the win column. After 4 sets the Pioneers would not see their luck change as the Patriots bested the Pioneers three sets to one. Baptist Bible College took the first two sets of the evening with a score of 25-13 and 25-15 before the Pioneers settled down on the unfamiliar court, finally claiming the third set with a win of 25-21. CRC put up a fight in the fourth set but couldn't complete the come from behind win as the Patriots seized control of the 4th set, winning it to defeat CRC 25-21. Pioneer leaders in the contest were senior Emi Elms as she led the charge for the Pioneer offense by smashing out 15 kills. Elms' success was due in part thanks to Jillian Glasgow and Jadyn Hesse who passed out a combined 33 assists for their teammates. Hannah Halverson led defensively with 23 digs followed closely in hot pursuit by Kinley Matlock who hit the 20 mark herself with 20 digs in the 4 set defeat. Next up for the Pioneers will be a Tri-Match on Saturday hosted by Haskell University in Lawrence, KS. #GOPIONEERS
