Crowley's Ridge sweeps CAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors

PARAGOULD, Ark. – Players across all three lines within the Crowley's Ridge College attack have swept the Continental Athletic Conference volleyball Player of the Week awards after posting strong performances as the Pioneers closed out the 2021 regular season.

Sophomore Emi Elms, the Attacker of the Week, led the Pioneers with 15 kills in two matches last week. The Paragould native hit .261 with nine kills in a 3-0 victory against Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University last Friday. Elms also led the team with six total blocks, with five blocks coming against Harris-Stowe State.

Freshman Jadyn Hesse, the Setter of the Week, set up 26 kills in the final game of the 2021 campaign -- the sweep against Harris-Stowe State. The Weiner native averaged 6.43 assists per set for the week. Nineteen assists and 13 digs came in a 3-1 loss to LeMoyne-Owen (Tenn.) College last Tuesday.

Senior Kaitlyn Perkins, the Defender of the Week, ended her regular-season career with 22 digs against Harris-Stowe State. That adds to her all-time digs leadership total, being the first Crowley's Ridge player to accumulate 2,000 or more digs during a career. The Willow Springs, Missouri, native now has 2,249 career digs. Perkins also sits at No. 3 in the NAIA by averaging 6.37 digs per set this season.
