BATESVILLE, Ark. – Crowley's Ridge College wrapped up a six-game road trip to begin the 2021-22 campaign with a trip to in-state rival Lyon (Ark.) College. The Lady Pioneers will return to friendlier confines after a 3-1 loss, (12-25, 26-24, 17-25, 12-25).

Crowley's Ridge (1-5) committed 12 errors in the opening set, while Lyon (8-3) utilized a 12.8% attack rate to win the opener. Emi Elms and Kaylee Cline teamed up for an early block, but the Scots earned the 25-12 win.

The Lady Pioneers' second set sparked a change with three unanswered points to start the set including a Brooklynn Passmore service ace. That 3-0 lead would be the largest advantage either team would have in the second set which featured 10 ties and five lead changes. Tied as late at 24-24: Kaitlyn Perkins took advantage of a Lyon service error to force a bad attack from the Scots to even up the match with a 26-24 set win.

CRC found themselves in a hole late in the third set - trailing by as many as 11 – but refused to give up by requiring the Scots to play out six set points before Lyon was able to break through to take a 2-1 match advantage with a 25-17 victory.

Lyon opened the fourth set with 12 unanswered points to put the must-win set out of the Lady 'Neers reach to win the set and the match 25-12.

Elms led the green and black offense with seven kills, followed by Cline and Passmore's five-kill effort. Three of Passmore's kills came in the form of service aces. Jadyn Hesse set up 21 assists, while Perkins anchored the back row with 26 digs.
