Pensacola, FL- In the Lady Pioneers' season debut, CRC would start sluggish as the Ridge saw the Lady Stallions take a 5-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but before long, CRC's offense would roar to life, swiftly tacking on the points en route to their debut win. What changed the game completely in favor of CRC took place in the second quarter as the Pioneers opened up with a 13-0 run which turned into an absurd 38-point program record quarter performance. This massive offensive wave allowed the Lady Pioneers to take a 49-30 lead into the break. When the game resumed, CRC played with their lead and never surrendered their position, controlling the game until the final buzzer sounded.
In her Pioneer debut, Joi Montgomery posted her first double-double of the season as the forward led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Alongside Montgomery, sophomore Brooklyn Kearbey dropped 19 points in her Pioneer debut, while veteran Pioneer and senior Travia Woodruff added 18 points to the CRC cause.
"We rebounded from a rocky start to secure our first win of the season. We had a lot of players step up today and contribute to today's victory. I am proud of our squad!" - Head Coach Chris Richardson
