Paragould, Ark.- With yesterday's 89-76 defeat to Florida National University, the Lady Pioneers bounced back strong this evening as they snapped their three-game losing streak with a 35-point blowout victory over the Lady Bulldogs of Wilberforce University, 96-61. The Lady Pioneers claimed every period of the contest, scoring a season-high 36 points in the third quarter. What influenced CRC's ability to win this evening was the fact they found their three-ball rhythm midway through the second quarter and continued it through the contest, shooting a season-high 51.5 % (17-33) from three on the night. This offensive performance from CRC allowed them to take a 41-25 lead at the half and transform it into a 96-61 point victory.
Freshman Ansley Dawson led the Pioneer offense in big fashion tonight as the young Pioneer matched CRC's freshmen single-game point performance record with 33 points. She joins sophomore teammate Hunter Gibson at the top of the list as Dawson shot 7-10 from three in the contest. Sophomore Tori Sutherland's third-quarter effort kickstarted the CRC bucket landslide as the Paragould, Ark. native ripped up the net sinking four-of-five three balls in the third quarter, finishing second on the team with 12 tallies. Lastly, sophomores Brinley Morgan and Hunter Gibson twinned it up each ending with 11 points and leading the team with 7 rebounds each.
"Offensively - everything was clicking today and it made for a fun night. I really want to brag on the rebounding and the defensive effort from all the Lady Pioneers this week. They've really grown up on that end of the floor and they're getting hot at the right time." - Head Coach Chris Richardson
