Pensacola, FL- Lady Pioneer Basketball is officially back underway as the team took the court in their season opener in Pensacola, FL earlier this afternoon in a matchup against the Eagles of Trinity Baptist College. In his head coaching debut, Chris Richarson led the Lady Pioneers fiercely into battle, making his off-season efforts visible as his newly added Pioneer talent shined in the opener. New Pioneer, freshman Ansley Dawson of Grubbs, AR made an impact on the Pioneers' offensive effort as she recorded 19 points in her debut. Several returners to the team, who were pillars to the team's success in last year's record-breaking season stood out once more on the court with sophomore Hunter Gibson posting 20 points and snatching a team-high 8 rebounds. In comparison, fellow Sophomores Brinley Morgan and Regiana Ward had impressive nights as they added a combined 43 points to CRC's side of the scoreboard. Morgan led the team in scoring with 24 points while Ward added 19 more. CRC's defensive pressure forced a single-game record of 41 turnovers helping CRC cruise to a 97-78 win in their opener.
