Women's Basketball took on the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks earlier today in the second matchup of the CAC classic in Espanola, NM. The Lady Pioneers were still in search of their first win of the weekend as they were defeated by CAC conference opponent, Iowa Wesleyan yesterday with a score of 68-37. The Lady Pioneers' search would yield empty as the Bobcats proved too much as they defeated CRC, 69-54.
Espanola, NM- The Bobcats jumped ahead of the Pioneers in the first quarter but with back-to-back three-pointers from Hunter Gibson, Gibson tied the game at the 1:34 mark 15-15. College of the Ozarks tipped the scale back their way in the last seconds of the first quarter with a three-ball of their own retaking the lead, at the end of the quarter the Pioneers trailed the Bobcats by three, 18-15. The Bobcats continued their attack by grabbing the first bucket of the 2nd quarter improving their lead with a 5-0 run. Once again Hunter Gibson would answer with her third three-ball of the game. Whatever Gibson caught, she passed it to Mickayla Smith. Smith also hit back-to-back threes keeping the Pioneers within reach as they entered the half trailing 29-35. Lindsey Browning got the Pioneers on the board in quarter three keeping the deficit at 6, 31-37. Octavia Lowery and Alayzah Foster entered the game and combined for 7 points and 2 steals, but the Bobcats still were able to increase the gap, too 53-39. The Pioneers put together a solid 15-point quarter to end the game with a bang, but it would not be enough as they fell 69-54.
