Lady Pioneer basketball traveled to Walnut Ridge, Ark. to rematch the Lady Eagles of Williams Baptist University. Crowley's Ridge College fell short to WBU last Tuesday, November 3rd  at home in the Carter Activities Center with a score of 84-82. The Lady Pioneers would seek vengeance but would not complete their quest, as they would fall to the Lady Eagles 82-67. 

 

Quarter one, with a nail biter of a game, it would be junior Lindsey Browning who got the Pioneers on the board first with a bucket in the paint. Freshman Hunter Gibson would lead the way in points for the Pioneers in the first quarter with 5 as they trailed by one with a score of 16-17 at the first buzzer.

 

Quarter two, The team in green would produce their highest scoring quarter of the night with a team effort of 19 points. CRC would retake the lead and lose it a few times this quarter but with 2:10 left in the half, senior Octavia Lowery would take the lead, 30-28, with a jumper. The Pioneers would build off of this lead ending the half up 35-30 with a buzzer beater bucket from freshmen Alayzah Foster.  

 

Quarter three, CRC found their biggest lead of the matchup with the help of a free throw from junior Lindsey Browning to give the advantage to the Pioneers, 38-32. Again, freshmen Hunter Gibson led the way for the CRC offense with 6 points this quarter. Senior Lowery and junior Browning chased with 5 each. This trifecta effort would not be enough as the Pioneers wrapped up quarter three trailing 56-53.

 

Quarter four, the Lady Eagles would match their previous quarter effort with a second  26 point quarter. This 52 point half would ultimately lead to the CRC downfall as they would fall to the Lady eagles 82-67. 

 

Leaders: 

Lindsey Browning led the Pioneer offense with (18) points while adding (6) rebounds. Hunter Gibson finished second in points with (14) also adding (6) rebounds. Octavia Lowery ended the contest with (11) points for the Pioneers along with (4) assists.

CRC looks to regroup on Saturday, November the 12 against Pensacola Christian at home in the Carter Activities Center at 2:00pm.
