LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Crowley's Ridge Lady Pioneers did not connect on a shot from the floor until the 8:28 mark of the second frame, marking a slow start the girls in green couldn't overcome. The Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) University Fightin' Indians led the entire contest to claim an 86-52 victory.
Crowley's Ridge (10-13, 3-5) went 0-11 from the field in the opening quarter, with their five points coming from free throws off the hands of Lizzy Rowton and Travia Woodruff.
Meanwhile, Haskell (12-13, 8-2 CAC) posted 11 points in the first quarter and more than doubled that output in the second to take a 36-16 lead into the break. Any momentum the Lady 'Neers hoped would lapse during the intermission was wiped when Miracle Spotted Bear connected on a half-court buzzer-beating shot to send the Fightin' Indian faithful at the Coffin Complex into a frenzy.
Crowley's Ridge began to find the hoop in the fourth quarter, scoring 25 points, but it was too little and too late as their opponents tallied 28 in the quarter to seal the 86-52 victory.
Madison Sellars was the long Lady 'Neers ending with double-digits, scoring 10 points including two 3-pointers. Lindsey Browning led her team on the boards, pulling down seven rebounds.
