PARAGOULD, Ark. – Crowley's Ridge College used 12 three-pointers to help cement a victory over the Baptist Bible (Mo.) College Patriots.
The Patriots (8-7) jumped ahead to a 7-2 lead before Lady 'Neer head coach Brad Phillips needed to call for time to talk over strategy. That timeout proved to be the player of the quarter, as CRC came out the timeout on a 12-0 run. BBC outrebounded the Lady Pioneers 15-8, but CRC's strong run gave them a 21-14 lead after the opening ten.
Freshman shooter Mickayla Smith had a massive second quarter, bucketing 11 points – nine of which were from long range. Crowley's Ridge (6-5) went into intermission leading 44-32.
When the buckets do not fall, the rebounds increase. That proved true with both teams pulling down 12 rebounds in the third quarter. Crowley's Ridge; however, continued to pull ahead, leading by 17 going into the final quarter 67-50.
Lowery continued to show out, scoring seven points out of the gate of the fourth quarter, while the CRC defense had one block, three steals, and 11 defensive rebounds to coast to the finish line with an 86-61 victory.
Mickayla Smith led the scoring for the girls in green by bucketing a season-best 24 points – 15 of which came from her 5-9 mark from behind the three-point line.
Three different Lady 'Neers ended their game with double-doubles. Octavia Lowery led the charge with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Reigning A.I.I. Player of the Week Kianna Hardaway followed behind with her fourth consecutive double-double and fifth in six games. The former Jonesboro Golden Hurricane ender her night with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Also earning a double-double was fellow Jonesboro native (but Nettleton alumna) Travia Woodruff. The former Lady Raider had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
