Turnovers Handcuff Lady Pioneers

PARAGOULD, AR - The Lady Pioneer basketball team hosted Philander Smith College in their home opener last night. Crowley's Ridge committed 34 turnovers and dropped to an early 1-3 record in the 78-51 loss.

The Lady Panthers of Philander Smith started the game on a 15-0 run and never looked back.

CRC did hold Philander to just 19% (4-21) from beyond the arc, but they only hit five three-point buckets of their own. The Panthers converted 36 points off turnovers and 18 second chance points.

Honchea Thornton led Philander Smith in scoring with 14 points.

Alexus Taylor led Crowley's Ridge in scoring with 13 points. Elly Burrell had a team high 11 rebounds. Adrianne Chambers came off the bench and notched seven points, three rebounds, two steals, and a career high four blocks.

The Lady Pioneers look to bounce back on Thursday when they host John Brown in a rematch at 6:00 PM.
