Lady Pioneers Fall Just Short in Mobile
MOBILE, AL - Despite shooting 62.5% from beyond the arc as a team, Crowley's Ridge dropped the road game against the University of Mobile, 72-63.
The Lady Pioneers had a rough start and found themselves down 24-12 after the first quarter. After a turnover-plagued first quarter, CRC turned it around in the second quarter scoring 25 points and holding the Rams to 14 to pull within one going into the half.
The third quarter and most of the fourth quarter were evenly matched between the two squads. Mobile extended their lead to nine points, but Crowley's Ridge continued to battle and inch closer each time. The final nail in the coffin for the Pioneers were two back-to-back transition lay-ups by the Rams with about one minute to play.
Mobile was led in scoring by Artasia McDowell with 12 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.
Crowley's Ridge was led by Alexus Taylor with 17 points, three steals, and three assists. Chelsie Spence added 15 points, including four of six from deep.
The Lady Pioneers will continue their road trip on Saturday when they face Pensacola Christian.
