CBC Mustangs Eliminate Pioneers From AMC Tournament-Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 4/30/25

After a massive rally to win yesterday's survival game against Cottey College, #5 Central Baptist College emerged victorious over the #7 Pioneers in today's 2:00 p.m. losers bracket matchup, eliminating the Pioneers from the tournament and ending CRC's 2025 season.

Conway, Ark.- Crowley's Ridge's post-season run came to a close this afternoon via a seven-run shutout performance from the Mustangs of CBC. In the contest, the Pioneers had no problem making contact, as the team only had two strikeouts at the plate, but struggled to find a hole, with the Pioneers unfavorably smashing hits directly to the Mustang defenders. On the flip side, the Mustangs took the opposite approach, scoring 7 runs off 11 hits, including two long balls with a homer in the 1st and 7th inning. The Pioneers found two gaps in the contest with senior Jocelyn Villarreal connecting with a 2-out single up the middle in the fifth, and junior Karsen Overshine finding a gap in the 7th with a 1-out rip to left field. Three Pioneers toed the rubber with senior Halea Wells getting the final start of her collegiate career. Wells went 4.0 innings, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) off 7 hits before being relieved by freshman Ava Jessup, who surrendered 2 runs (0 earned) off 1 hit, and walked 1 in her one inning of work. Senior Natalie Brightwell finished the game, whirling the final 2.0 innings, allowing 2 runs off 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2.
Head Coach Jordan Malone ends her 10th and final season as the Lady Pioneers' skipper with an overall record of 19-26 and an AMC record of 9-13. Malone and the 2025 Pioneers leave their mark, earning the program's first American Midwest Conference Tournament appearance and first AMC postseason win in the program's inaugural season.
