Eagles Best Pioneers in Regular Season Finale- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 4/22/25
Pioneer Softball wrapped up the 2025 season (18-24 overall and 9-13 AMC), dropping the regular season's final doubleheader against the Eagles of Williams Baptist University (32-12 & 16-6 AMC) this afternoon at Pioneer Park.
Game 1
Crowley's Ridge- 3
Williams Baptist- 6
Paragould, Ark.- In game one, the Eagles slipped past the Pioneers by three runs, linking together a 2-run fifth and a 3-run sixth to edge the Pioneers and claim the contest. Offensively, the Lady Pioneers were competitive from the box, tacking on sole runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, but painfully wouldn't be able to keep up with the Eagles. Senior Kourtni Jagneaux opened the Pioneers scoring with Jagneaux driving in one run with a single to right field in the fourth, Hadlee DeFries added one more the following frame, driving in Jordan Janak with her single to right field in the fifth, before Jagneaux capped the Pioneer's runs, connecting with her fourth long ball of the season with a solo shot in the sixth. Halea Wells took the loss, allowing 6 runs off 9 hits while walking 2 in 5.1 innings. The Lady Pioneers collected 8 hits. Jagneaux led the team, going 2 for 2 with her homer and 2 RBIs. Karsen Overshine also collected two hits, going 2 for 3 with a triple.
Game 2 (6 innings)
Crowley's Ridge- 1
Williams Baptist- 9
Paragould, Ark.- In the afternoon's second contest, the Eagles of WBU would end things early, run-ruling the Pioneers after six innings. Despite only producing one run in the contest, the Lady Pioneers amassed seven hits as a team with senior Bailey Cupples leading the offense, going 2 for 3 with two singles. Freshman Maddie Burris knocked in the Pioneers' lone run, collecting the RBI with a groundout to first in the sixth inning. Senior Natalie Brightwell fell to 7-6 on the year, surrendering 6 runs (5 earned) off 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 3 over 5.0 innings.
Up Next: The Lady Pioneers conclude the 2025 regular season with an overall record of 18-24 and an American Midwest Conference record of 9-13. #GOPIONEERS
