Pioneer Softball picked up their first win of the season in game two, defeating Mission University after dropping game one to the Eutectics of UHSP in the "Turfs Up" tournament in Branson, MO.

Branson, MO- The Lady Pioneers fell in today's opening contest by a difference of five runs against the Lady Eutectics. The Lady 'Neers opened the scoring, posting back-to-back two-run frames in the second and the third innings as seniors Jocelyn Villarreal and Kourtni Jagneaux scored on a throwing error by UHSP in the second, and newcomer Bailee Maybin scored on a passed ball while transfer sophomore Jada Diaz claimed the final run for the Pioneers with an RBI single to right field in the third. UHSP's bats stayed with the Pioneers, scrapping two runs back in the third inning before reclaiming the lead and the contest with a massive five-run wave in the fourth thanks to a three-run homer. Halea Wells took the loss in the circle for the Pioneers tossing 4.0 innings, surrendering 7 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits while walking 1 and waiving 3. Aimee Buckley relieved Wells finishing the contest by tossing 3.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, and striking out 2. Senior Kourtni Jagneaux led the offense going (2-3) in the contest.

Branson, MO- Head Coach Jordan Malone and the Lady Pioneers earned their first win of the season in game two as they slipped past the Patriots of Mission University by two runs. Junior Natalie Brightwell earned the spotlight, going the distance in the circle to earn the complete game win. Brightwell spanned 8 hits over 7.0 innings, allowing 1 run, and walking 1 while fanning 5 Patriots batters in her outing. Senior Jocelyn Villarreal brought in two of the Pioneers' three runs with Floridian smacking a double bagger to left field in the top of the fourth and fellow senior Bailey Cupples following suit with a double in the top of the fifth scoring Hadlee DeFries for CRC's final run. The Lady Pioneers mustered 5 hits as a team, Villarreal, Cupples, DeFries, Karsen Overshine, and Maddie Burris all had one hit in the win.
Up Next: The Pioneers will stay in Branson as they finish up the time in the Turfs Up tournament tomorrow with games against the University of Nebraska- Kearney and Evangel University. #GOPIONEERS
