CRC Softball ran the gauntlet, going 4-0 while in Texas as the Lady Pioneers defeated Dallas Christian College in both of today's contests. The Lady Pioneers improve to 13-9 on the year and increase their win streak to 6.
Game One:
Crowley's Ridge-14
Dallas Christian- 5
Dallas, TX- Much like a mirror from yesterday's opening contest against ABU, the Lady Pioneers thrashed the Lady Crusaders of Dallas Christian College in game one by smashing out sixteen hits helping CRC to score fourteen runs in the big win. The Lady Pioneers rocketed three longballs in the contest with Brooklyn Melson getting the Pioneers on the scoreboard with her two-run shot in the bottom of the second and Bailey Cupples hitting CRC's other two homers with a two-run shot in the fifth and a solo shot in the seventh. A pivotal fourth inning from the Lady Pioneer offense with three back-to-back doubles by Kylie Cox, Dru Bryant, and Shelby Elrod allowed Crowley's Ridge to take the lead back from the Lady Crusaders, which they maintained for the rest of the contest. Six Lady Pioneers collected multiple hits in the win with Bailey Cupples' epic day leading the way as the junior went (3-5) with 3 RBIs and 2 HR. Brooklyn Melson posted a (1-3), 2 RBI, and HR day. Dru Bryant also had a profitable game as she finished (2-3) with 3 RBIs. Shelby Elrod now sits 8-2 on the season from the inner circle as the RHP tossed all 7.0 innings, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5.
Game Two:
Crowley's Ridge-7
Dallas Christian- 5
Dallas, TX- In game two, the Lady Pioneers emerged victorious over the Lady Crusaders with a final score of 7-5, completing CRC's undefeated weekend in Texas. The Pioneers led the Lady Crusaders in the second contest for its entirety as Bailey Cupples and Hannah Burk each knocked in one run in the top of the first giving CRC the lead which they never relinquished. The Pioneers took advantage of the Crusader's shortcomings by scoring four of their seven runs off four DCC fielding errors. Halea Wells seized her fifth of the season by windmilling 5.0 innings and allowing 5 runs on 12 hits before being relieved by Natalie Brightwell who tossed the final 2.0 innings where the sophomore allowed just 2 hits while amassing her 3rd save of the year. The Lady Pioneers mustered eight hits with two Pioneers having multiple hits as Maddie Reed, and Bailey Cupples had two hits in the victory. Jocelyn Villarreal led the team in walks going (1-2) with two bases on balls.
