Pioneer Softball Falls Twice To Mustangs

Pioneer Softball Falls Twice To Mustangs- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 4-24-23

Game One:

Crowley's Ridge- 2

Central Baptist- 19

Conway, Ark.- The CRC Lady Pioneers picked up a doubleheader match-up against the Mustangs of CBC to start off their week. The Lady Mustangs only outhit the Lady Pioneers by four with a box score of  11 hits compared to CRC's 7 but the big difference maker would be the number of runners on base for the Mustangs when those hits took place. The Mustangs scored a whopping 19 runs on the 11 hits as they belted three homers in the contest.  CRC's pitching staff struggled to find the strike zone and the Mustangs took advantage, collecting free bases by drawing 9 walks in the 5-inning contest. The Lady Pioneers offense was led by Hannah Burk as the Holcomb, MO native led CRC going 2-2 with two singles in the contest. Crowley's Ridge did manage to escape the shutout to the (30-16) Mustangs as Bailee Duhme and Piper Farmer singled back to back in the top of the 5th scoring one run each. Game Two:

Crowley's Ridge- 1

Central Baptist- 12

Conway, Ark.- The Pioneers searched for a different result in game two of the doubleheader but a second strong performance from the Lady Mustangs overruled the Lady Pioneers once more as CBC defeated Crowley's Ridge after 5 innings with a score of 12-1. The Mustangs rallied 10 hits off the Pioneer pitching staff and continued their long ball performance by cranking out 2 more homers on the day's effort.
