MOBILE, Ala. – Crowley's Ridge College softball continued their travel in the Yellowhammer State with a trip to face the #8 University of Mobile (Ala.) Lady Rams. The hosting Rams continued their unbeaten streak with two victories over Crowley's Ridge, first in a 7-0 final in game one, before finishing off the day with a 14-1 final in five innings.
Game One
Crowley's Ridge – 0
Mobile – 7
The Lady Pioneers (4-11, 0-2 CAC) had a quick spark when Shelby Elrod laced a leadoff single into centerfield, but was unable to advance, as the Mobile (21-0, 4-0 SSAC) defense clamped down.
Elrod (2-6) also got the start in the circle, walking just one Ram batter.
Layne Tedder had the most pop for the Lady 'Neers, collecting two hits of CRC's three hits, including a leadoff double in the second inning.
Game Two
Crowley's Ridge – 1
Mobile – 14
Hoping to spark an offensive push in game two, Kournti Jagneaux (1) launched her first home run in green and black in the top of the second inning. After the round-tripper, Crowley's Ridge (4-12, 0-2 CAC) found themselves trailing by a manageable 3-1.
Mobile (22-0, 4-0 SSAC) had other plans, as the Lady Rams plated two runs in the home half of the second before pushing nine across in the third inning.
Halea Wells (2-4) had the start for Crowley's Ridge, walking one batter with Abby Ewing pitching 1 2/3 innings in relief allowing one run.
Jagneaux's homer was joined by Dru Bryant's first-inning single as the only hits for the Lady 'Neers.
Up Next
The Lady Pioneers continue their road trip but will visit closer to home by traveling to Batesville, Arkansas for a doubleheader with Lyon (Ark.) College. Monday, March 21st's activity will see game one begin at 1:00 p.m.
