BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Crowley's Ridge Lady Pioneers found themselves on the wrong end of a perfect game from Oklahoma Wesleyan University's Maddy Wiese in the opening game of Monday's doubleheader 8-0. The Lady 'Neers bounded back in game two before a two-run sixth inning gave the Eagles the victory 4-3.

Game One

Crowley's Ridge – 0

Oklahoma Wesleyan – 8

Crowley's Ridge (4-3, 0-0 CAC) had no answer for the southpaw Wiese, who struck out 12 of the 15 Lady Pioneers she faced. Halea Wells (2-1) looked to defend her conference pitcher of the week title, but a three-run first inning from the Eagles (7-3, 0-0 KCAC) paved the way for an 8-0 victory.

Game Two

Crowley's Ridge – 3

Oklahoma Wesleyan – 4

The Lady Pioneers (4-4, 0-0 CAC) broke into the hit column thanks to Rachel Russell's two-out single in the top of the first, followed by Kourtni Jagneaux's base knock. The girls in green; however, fell behind early after a two-run double in the first inning put OKWU (8-3, 0-0 KCAC) on top 2-0.

Shelby Elrod (2-2) settled into the circle to coax four scoreless innings from the Eagles while the Lady Pioneer offense began to find their stride. In the top of the fourth inning, Bailey Jones took a pitch off of the arm, wrapping around to third base on back-to-back singles from Lacey Lambright-Southern and April Kennedy. Dru Bryant's sacrifice fly brought home the first Crowley's Ridge run of the day. A backdoor pick attempt went into the outfield to allow Lambright-Southern to tie the game and move Kennedy into scoring position. Russell then shot a single up the middle to plate Kennedy and give the Lady Pioneers a 3-2 lead.

That lead lasted a little more than an inning before the Eagles scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning before a passed ball allowed what eventually became the winning run to cross the plate.

Russell led off the top of the seventh inning with a walk, but no runs were able to cross before the Eagles escaped with the 4-3 victory.

Russell and Jagneaux both had a pair of hits in game two, while Bryant and Russell tallied one RBI each.
