JACKSON, Tenn. – After a pair of blowout wins to start the season, Crowley's Ridge fell in two close games to the Lane (Tenn.) College Lady Dragons. First losing by a final of 5-3 before the Lady Dragons walked off with a 4-3 win in game two.

Game One

Crowley's Ridge – 3

Lane – 5

The Lady Pioneers (2-1) opened the day by drawing first blood, after Rachel Russell pounded out a double past the shortstop, coming home to score on Kourtni Jagneaux's single.

Lane (1-2) used their speed to their advantage, stealing both second and third after a leadoff single - setting up the tying run to score on an RBI single. Two more stolen bases - including a steal of home - gave the Lady Dragons a lead.

That lead would only last one inning, when Russell's two-out single turned into essentially a triple, reaching second on an error and third on a wild pitch. Layne Tedder drove in the tying run thanks to a single to right.

CRC would retake the lead in the top of the fourth when Shelby Elrod's single turned into a run off of Lacey Lambright-Southern's groundout. The Lady 'Neer lead did not last long, as the Lady Dragons led off the home half of the fifth inning with a homer to right field. After plating two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Lane collected a 5-3 victory.

Halea Wells started and tossed five innings of work, punching out three batters. Maddie Reed (0-1) took the loss in relief.

Russell led the Lady 'Neer charge with a three-hit afternoon, while Bailey Jones tallied two hits.

Game Two

Crowley's Ridge – 3

Lane – 4

A late-inning thriller ended the day in Jackson, with Rust earning a walk-off victory over Crowley's Ridge 4-3.

Lane (2-2) jumped ahead early by plating runs in the bottom of the first and third innings. A pair of untimely wild pitches in the bottom of the opening inning saw a one-out single turn into a run.

The Lady Pioneers (2-2) began mounting a comeback in the top of the fourth inning when Kylie Cox led off with a single to left field. Cox would come around to score on Lacey Lambright-Southern's RBI single to left.

CRC waited until the top of the seventh to overtake the Lady Dragons. Dru Bryant led off with a single to center, then moving to second thanks to Rachel Russell's sacrifice bunt. Kourtni Jagneaux then ripped a single past first base to bring Bryant around to score. Coming in as a courtesy runner, Shelby Elrod scored the go-ahead run on Cox's groundout.

In the last-chance inning for the Lady Dragons, a single was followed by an error and a wild pitch to plate the tying run in the bottom of the seventh. With Crowley's Ridge unable to score in the top of the 8th, a pair of walks doomed the Lady 'Neers when Lane hit a walk-off single to earn the second victory 4-3.

Layne Tedder had the hot bat, going 3-4 from the dish, with Cox and Jagneaux collecting a pair of hits each.

Shelby Elrod (1-1) picked up the loss in her second start.
