Cross Country Runs in St. Louis, MO- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 10/19/24
Pioneer Cross Country competed in its final regular season meet this afternoon, participating in UHSP's Mikayla Sherrill Fall Invitational in St. Louis, MO. The Men's team took 5th place with the ladies competing individually as Laura Combs and Sami Tonkery represented the Lady Pioneers.
St. Louis, MO- For the men, freshman runner Mark Eagleman took his normal role of team lead runner as he paced his team with a time of 35:54 in the 8k, finishing three minutes and five seconds faster than his teammates to place 52nd overall. Following Eagleman would be freshman Dayton Skaggs. Skaggs bumped up one spot from the last meet finish by taking second on the team in today's run. Skaggs crossed just under the thirty-nine-minute mark at an official time of 38:59.7, landing him 57th place overall. Third for the team was lone senior Blake Wilson as Wilson crossed at 43:08.4, four minutes behind Skaggs, earning him 58th place. Lastly, freshman runners Trent Siemens and Blake Gaebler crossed fourth and fifth for the squad as they finished on top of one another. Siemens took fourth with an official time of 1:01:58.1 and Gaebler took fifth with a time of 1:01:58.2 earning them 60th and 61st overall.
For the Ladies 5k, Laura Combs paced the duo with Combs taking 44th overall with a time of 26:56.2. Senior Sami Tonkery followed with a time of 32:57.8, taking 51st overall.
