Pioneer XC Competes in Larry Young Invitational- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 9/20/24
Columbia, MO- For the first time this season, both teams of CRC's XC traveled to compete in the Larry Young Invitational hosted by Columbia College. The men's squad took to the 8K course with a full team, and like last week, freshman Mark Eagleman led the team. Eagleman paced the guys with a time of 37:51, placing 6 spots ahead of his teammates. Freshmen Trent Siemens and Dayton Skaggs had a photo finish foot race for the finish line as the teammates crossed at the same time finishing behind Eagleman with a time of 42:37. Freshman Blake Gaebler finished fourth on the team with a final time of 55.38 forcing the teams only upperclassman, Blake Wilson, to bring in caboose as the senior crossed with a end time of 55.41.
For the Lady Pioneers, two runners hit the trail as sophomore Hadlee DeFries and junior Sami Tonkery represented the Ridge in the 4K race. DeFries finished ahead of her teammate crossing the line at 28:41; Tonkery finished her first race of the year with a time of 38:54.
Up Next: Both teams will hit the trail again in October where they will compete in UHSP's Golden Eagle Invitational on October 5th. #GOPIONEERS
