Pioneer Golf took part in Central Baptist College's Spring invitational with an opening round of 36 holes today. In this afternoon's second round of 18, freshman Hogan Nelson recorded Pioneer Golf's first-ever hole-in-one with the Sunnyvale, Texas native sinking the shot on hole 13 at Cypress Creek Golf Course.
Day One Standings:
After today's 36 holes, Hogan Nelson would lead teammates Reece Kieffner and Walker Hibbs at +19. Nelson rallied up an +11 scorecard in the first trip around the course before shaving off three strokes, credited to his program-setting shot, to finish +8 in round two. The Texan sits tied for 34th individually heading into tomorrow's 18. Senior leader Walker Hibbs finished the day behind Nelson at +33. Hibbs finished the first trip on the heels of Nelson at +13 over but dropped down the standings with the Walnut Ridge, Arkansas native adding seven strokes to his round one effort in the second go-round. Hibbs sits in 48th place individually. Last but not least for the Pioneers was freshman Reece Kieffner. Kieffner wrapped up the day with identical scorecards on both rounds, placing him +42 and in 55th place overall.
