Pioneer Golf wrapped up their time at the Lyon Fall Invitational by dropping three strokes from their day one score, helping the team improve one slot on the final scorecard. In totality, the Men's team placed 8th overall with a combined swing total of 671 being +95 over par for the two-round event.
Batesville, Ark.- In today's second round, yesterday's top fragger Hogan Nelson would see negative progress with the addition of five stokes to his scorecard. Thanks to his team-low +8 finish from round one, Nelson would still sneak out the team's best overall finish with Nelson shooting +21, but would drop four slots placing him 38th overall.
Mitchell Flowers, who finished third in yesterday's round, would improve his game by shaving off two strokes, earning him the runner-up spot for the team. Flowers' +11 over-par effort in the second round gave him a final score of +24 over par and pushed him up six slots to 41st overall.
The next two Pioneers ended the Invitational all squared up being +27 over par. Reece Kieffner ran into some trouble and added three swings to his day one score while Noah Alderson tossed off a whopping nine strokes, giving Alderson the best recovery and finish on the day being +9 over par. With this massive improvement, Alderson skyrocketed 9 slots to end the invitational tied with Kieffner at 45th individually.
Sophomore Sam Allen improved his personal score by losing three strokes from his day one score but with the huge jumps from his teammates, Allen would fall off the team's scorecard and finish fifth for the Pioneers. Allen wrapped up his second Invitational +29 over par and up three slots to take 49th individually.
