Pioneer Golf Drops Eleven Strokes In Final Round- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 9/10/24

Kennett, MO- Pioneer Golf wrapped up its season-opening tournament by dropping eleven strokes in their final round at the Williams Baptist University Fall Invitational, giving them a final standing of 8th place being +87 over par with 658 total strokes.

Day two proved to hold fast to head Coach Adam Meeker's belief of the team settling down, improving gameplay, and dropping strokes from the scorecard as the team rallied to lose eleven strokes in today's eighteen. Freshman Landon Guion kept the same pace as he co-led the team yesterday with fellow freshman Reece Kieffner, but pulled away from the group in today's shoot-out as Guion lost one stroke this go 'round giving him a final scorecard of +15 over par and up three spots to finish 27th overall in his collegiate debut. Kieffner stayed close to Guion but with the young Pioneer adding three swings in round two, Kieffner fell two slots to finish +19 over par and in 32nd individually. Two Pioneers, Mitchell Flowers and Hogan Nelson, each shaved off a whopping eleven swings on day two which allowed Flowers to pass sole sophomore Sam Allen to take third for the team sitting +27 over par and up four spots finishing 39th overall. Thanks to Nelson's impressive improvement, the Sunnyvale, TX native would finish fourth on today's scorecard shooting twelve over par in today's round. Allen, who finished third for the team yesterday, backtracked as the sophomore added seven hacks to his day one score which dropped him down five slots to finish the invitational knotted up with Nelson as both players finished +35 over par and tied for 44th overall.
