Pioneers Come From Behind for the Win

PARAGOULD, AR - After jumping out to an early four point lead the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers fell behind by nine at the half and by as much as 18 in the second half before storming back for a 79-72 win over Rust College Saturday afternoon.
CRC led 8-4 early in the game but the Bearcats of Rust College took the lead with 12:46 to play in the half and extended it to as much as 11 points and led 38-29 at the half. CRC was hampered by a 10 of 32 shooting effort for 31.3% in the first half, including two for 12 from the three point line.
Rust opened the second half by pushing their lead up to 18 at 60-42 with 11:23 to play in the game. Over the next seven minutes the Pioneers went on a 26-8 run to tie the score at 68-68 with 3:06 to play after a basket by Montrel James. Freshman Braeden Williams gave the Pioneers the lead with two free throws with 2:22to play in the game. CRC finished the game with a 9-4 run to secure the win on the day.
Randy Stanley led the Pioneers with a double double on the afternoon with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Montrel James added 17 points and seven steals. Chris Bernard added 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Braeden Williams finished with 11 points in the win.
