Pioneer Baseball (8-40 & 6-28 AMC) fell to the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University (8-32 & 6-28 AMC) in both contests today, 8-5 in game one and 10-5 in game two. 

Game 1

Crowley's Ridge- 5

Harris-Stowe- 8

Paragould, Ark.- The Pioneers gained an early lead over the Hornets in game one, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first with Alex Gamez scoring Trey Drake with an RBI single to right field, and Adonis Thomas scoring Gamez and James Wilson with a 2 RBI double to left center, but painfully this lead wouldn't be maintained with the Hornets reclaiming the lead with back to back 2 run efforts in the second and third, taking a 4-3 lead. Sophomore Brylan Honeycutt tied the game for the Pioneers in the fourth, scoring Thomas with an RBI single to right field, but CRC again had the Hornets reclaim the lead, this time with a 3 run effort in the fifth, taking a 7-4 lead. Each team would scrape one more run in the sixth, with Matthew Parker bringing in Thomas with a double to left field, before going runless in the seventh, giving the Hornets the game one win. The Pioneers collected 9 hits, Adonis Thomas led the way, going 3 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI, Matthew Parker and Alex Gamez followed, going 2 for 3 with a RBI. JackHenry Glasgow took the loss, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) off 7 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6 in 5.0 innings. 

Game 2

Harris-Stowe- 10

Paragould, Ark.- For a second consecutive game, the Pioneers would rally 5 runs to the plate, but again faced defeat with the Hornets scoring 10 runs off 16 hits in the contest. The Hornets took early control, scoring 9 runs in the first three innings compared to the Pioneers' 2. CRC got on the board in the bottom of the second with the Pioneers catching a break off a Hornet fielding error, scoring one, and senior Matthew Parker bringing in Rilyn Coleman to the plate with a fielder's choice for a second run. Two innings would pass before the Pioneers would score again. In the fifth, CRC scored their final three runs of the game, with James Wilson bringing in Trey Drake with a double down the right field line, and Rilyn Coleman scoring Wilson and Alex Gamez with a 2 RBI single up the middle. The team amassed 7 hits in the game, Alex Gamez led the team going 2 for 4 with two singles, Rilyn Coleman followed going 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. Jack Roney took the loss, allowing 7 runs off 9 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2 in 2.0 innings of work. Senior Michael Sharp Jr. relieved Roney, finishing the game, allowing 3 runs off 7 hits, walking 1, and striking out 2 in 5.0 innings.
