#16 Spartans Sweep Pioneers in Conference Doubleheader

#16 Spartans Sweep Pioneers in Conference Doubleheader- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 2/26/25

NAIA No. 16  ranked Missouri Baptist University claimed both contests in this afternoon's American Midwest Conference doubleheader, extending CRC's search for the season's first win. 

 

Game 1

Crowley's Ridge- 1

Missouri Baptist- 19


O'Fallon, MO- MBU's Spartans claimed game one with a bounty of hits, jumping ahead of the Pioneers in the early innings of the contest with the use of the long ball, hammering 4 homers en route to their 15-hit day. As a team, the Pioneers had 4 hits, led by senior Adonis Thomas who was 2-3 from the box. Junior Clay Burgess and Sophomore Brylan Honeycutt each added a single for the Pioneers. Freshman Lawson Graff took his third loss of the season, tossing 2.2 innings. 


Game 2 

Crowley's Ridge- 0

Missouri Baptist- 6

O'Fallon, MO- The Pioneers' offense was shielded by the Spartans'  bullpen in game two, being held scoreless and limiting the Pioneers to a sole hit in the matchup. Junior Conner Boan avoided the no-hit outing from Missouri Baptist with a 2-out single in the top of the third. Sophomore Parker Gordon took the loss, going the distance and surrendering 6 runs on 9 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4. 

Up next: Pioneer Baseball will host Highway 412 rival Williams Baptist University for their home opener at Pioneer Park on Friday, February 28th, and Saturday, March 1st for a 4-game series. Opening pitch will be at 11:00 AM each day. #GOPIONEERS
