LINCOLN, Ill. – Wet weather kept the teams off of the field until a doubleheader was turned into a single seven-inning game. The weather returned after five innings to end proceedings early with the Pioneers on top 12-3.

The Pioneers (8-19, 1-0 CAC) saw six of their first eight batters return to the dugout on strikes, hosting Lincoln Christian (0-16, 0-1 CAC) looked poised to pick up their first win of the season. Despite leading 2-0 going into the third inning, the wheels then began to fall off for the Red Lions. Zorey Chipman drew a leadoff walk, eventually moving to third after a passed ball and a wild pitch. Chipper Lamb was then hit by a pitch before a double-steal saw Lamb on second base with Chipman scoring the first Pioneer run. Another set of wild pitches had Lamb plate the tying run with Bobby Wright finding himself on second base.

Kole Simms would then leg out an infield single before a fielding error allowed Wright to score. Andrew Brown picked up the second Pioneer hit to drive home Simms on a two-out single into right field.

A four-run third was followed by a four-run fourth inning for CRC after Chipman and Lamb both drew walks, wrapping around to score on Bobby Wright's two-run single. After Simms drew a walk and stole second base, Phoenix Beal would drive in Wright with a sacrifice fly. Simms would touch home on the next pitch that went wild.

Crowley's Ridge would tack on four more runs in the top of the fourth inning despite not recording a single hit. A bases-loaded walk drawn by Lamb was followed by runs scoring on an error and two different wild pitches.

Jack Roney (4-2) picked up his third complete game of the season, striking out five Red Lions.

Crowley's Ridge scored 12 runs on three hits, taking advantage of three Red Lion errors. The Pioneers swiped seven bases and scored on all four LCU wild pitches.
